The
pine forest has grown significantly. 80 years under
a no fire management has resulted in an overgrowth of
ladder fuels which threaten the forest due to catastrophic
fire. The private land owners in the area are in cooperation
with the USFS and other federal, state and local interests
in order to create a controlled burn fire management
plan. The introduction of fire back into the ecosystem
is scheduled to begin fall 2002. Click
